What We Believe

Who We Are:

Northside is a family of about 800 people who worship, serve and fellowship together in Wichita, Kansas. At Northside, we trust the Bible to be the inspired word of God so we strive to put His principles and promises into practice in our lives.

As sinners saved by grace, we seek to share and show that same love and grace with everyone. As the body of Christ we want to be His hands and feet, serving at every opportunity, doing good everywhere we can and being ambassadors for Christ everywhere we go.

What We Believe:  Our Core Beliefs

The Family at Northside is united in these commonly held beliefs:

ABOUT GOD

There is only one true God. He is eternal and co-exists equally in three Persons:  God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.

ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Word of God is without error and is truth. The teachings of the New Testament are the basis of our beliefs, teaching, and practices.

ABOUT MANKIND

All humans are created in the spiritual likeness or image of God. All of us, however, are broken – we have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

ABOUT SALVATION

Forgiveness of sins is available through God’s grace. Grace is a free gift from God, and mankind can do nothing to earn or deserve it.  The way we receive His gift is by placing our trust and faith in Him, repenting of our sins, confessing our belief in Christ, and obeying His command to be immersed (baptized) in water.

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The Church (universal) is God’s spiritual family. It is made up of all those who believe and obey His commands.  The Church is to seek to do the will of God, which includes making and growing followers of Jesus Christ.

A local congregation of the Lord’s church such as Northside is a group of Christians who agree to work and worship together to accomplish the will of God.  Membership is open to any immersed believer who agrees to abide by Northside’s Statement of Faith and submit to the oversight of Northside’s Elders.

ABOUT ETERNITY

Those who choose to follow Jesus as Lord, and continue to trust Him as their savior, will spend eternity with God in Heaven. Those who reject Jesus by refusing to follow Him will spend eternity in Hell.
