A New Opportunity to Serve in an Old Ministry

A New Opportunity to Serve in an Old Ministry

One of Northside’s favorite ministries (going back over 21 years to our old building) is Wednesday night meals.  It would be very difficult to name all the women and men who have faithfully served in this ministry; it’s also very hard to describe all the blessings received by Northsiders from this ministry.

These blessings include 1) hard work, shared fun and Christian service (good cooks to kitchen helpers to clean-up workers), 2) hot food at a low cost, served with a smile, and 3) fellowship and laughter (and, “Where are my kids?  They were right here!?!”).  God has blessed Northside with a long history of providing and enjoying these mid-week meals.

We’ve also had a few transitions in this ministry through the years.  Lives change: time availability and physical ability for hard work can change from year to year.  Today, our Wednesday night meals ministry is at a crossroads and we need your help.  We may no longer being able to offer these meals to our church family.  That may not be a bad thing . . . many good ministries eventually come to the end of their    useful life.  However, we believe this ministry deserves another look by Northside members (especially newer members) who are looking for a chance to serve in a valued ministry.  If you want to continue enjoying Wednesday night meals, we need several new ministry workers, and we need them quickly.

We have at least two options, depending on the number of new workers and the timeliness of the response: 1) If we move very quickly, it’s still possible that we can have Wednesday night meals this fall; or 2) We might have to suspend the ministry and consider re-starting them in 2020.  If you are interested and available, please contact Sandy in the church office.  We will accept volunteers for two weeks before we move ahead with our decision.  We really appreciate your willingness to consider supporting this ministry – great fellowship and ‘good cookin’ in the middle of the week!
