Best Mother’s Day Present Ever by Steve Tandy

It may be a little early for most men to be thinking of Mother’s Day presents.  (Slight pause here until women stop laughing…)  But I thought I would make a suggestion anyway.  Men, tell your wife you are signing up for a “guy thing” on the Friday and Saturday before Mother’s Day.  Really!  (You may want to come up with something additional for her on that Sunday – but this will still be the best gift ever.)  Here’s the deal.  On Friday night [7 – 9:30] and Saturday morning [9 – 11:30] you can participate in a seminar guaranteed to help you be a more effective father.  I will be leading a great seminar on The 7 Secrets of Effective Fathers.  Toby reminded me that it has been quite a while since we held one at Northside and encouraged me to fire another one up.  I agreed.

The seminar is based on the amazing research by nationally recognized fathering expert Ken Canfield.  Dr. Canfield is actually a Wichita boy, but has lectured and facilitated fathering initiatives for the White House and all over the world.  His research identified seven key areas in which the most effective fathers are significantly different from average dads.  Studying and practicing these “secrets” will enable any father to improve his performance in this God-given role.  I attended training at his National Center for Fathering and was certified to teach his material.  I assure you it will be well worth your time – and will make a difference in your family!

This weekend is obviously for fathers with kids at home, but will bless grandfathers, stepfathers, divorced fathers, empty nesters, expectant fathers, and wannabe fathers.  Any man who has influence in a kid’s life will learn how to do it better.  By the way, this is a great outreach event for you Northside men.  I guarantee you have a friend or co-worker who wishes they knew how to be a more effective father.  Feel free to invite them and introduce them to the Northside family.

So, mark your calendar to save the date (May 12 & 13), and watch the bulletin for registration instructions in the next few weeks.
