Buenos Aires Mission Team
La Iglesia de Cristo Redentor (the Redeemer church of Christ) that Jonathan Hanegan planted 10 years ago now has a regular Sunday worship attendance of 40-50 people. Having Chema & Vanessa working full-time with him will allow Jonathan to focus more of his time on the things he is most gifted at. It will also allow them to spend a lot more time doing what they have already been doing as volunteers.
Jonathan baptized Chema in Venezuela 16 years ago, and he has been a member of the church in Buenos Aires since he emigrated to Argentina eight years ago. Chema is a talented writer, and in Venezuela, he worked as a film critic and editor for a magazine. He is on the church’s very busy benevolence committee and is well respected for his service. Chema already teaches and preaches regularly.
Vanessa was in Jonathan’s young adults group at the Caballito church where he first served in Buenos Aires, and she was his student at the Bible institute where he taught for several years. She earned a Bible degree there and later taught at the school. Vanessa also has a degree in education, language, and literature. She is one of three women who lead the church’s women’s ministry.
