Celebrating God’s Victories

Celebrating God’s Victories

As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to send missionaries, and a time for them to  return.” (He didn’t really say that last part, but I think it fits.)

All good works go through a natural life cycle, and we’re witnessing that now with the conclusion of Robin & Chrissy Vick’s mission work in Scotland and their return to the States.

The Vicks began their missionary journey by earning Bible degrees at the Sunset International Bible Institute and forming a team comprised mostly of fellow SIBI students. After we agreed to serve as the Vicks’ sending and stewarding congregation, they spent three months in Wichita working with us and getting to know us to enhance our ability to work together as partners in the work of spreading the Good News in Scotland.

On September 13, 2010, Robin & Chrissy arrived in Scotland. For a year, they and their teammates worked with the church in Stirling and spent time praying and planning to plant a church in nearby Falkirk. Their new church began by meeting in various team members’ and other church members’ homes, but soon grew large enough that they began gathering in a rented community hall, where they meet to this day.

The Vicks are sad to have to leave their close friends and church members, but they’re comforted in knowing the church is now a vibrant group of believers with several strong leaders.

Robin, Chrissy, Millie, and Murray will be in Wichita in July, and you can read more about their time here on Page 3.

When they finish visiting some of their supporting churches this summer, the Vicks will take up residence in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where Robin expects to begin a ministry position with the Roosevelt Drive Church of Christ in the summer of 2022.

Please pray for the Vicks as they begin this new phase of their life and that God will use them in a big way to grow his Kingdom. Pray for Millie and Murray as they start school in a very different culture than they’re used to. Pray that they will find new friends, adjust well, and grow up as faithful servants of God.
