COMING NEXT ON KNOW YOUR BIBLE
On Page 4 of this bulletin you will find the questions that will be answered on this week’s broadcast of Know Your Bible. Those are printed each week so you’ll know what’s “coming next.” In addition to those “coming attractions,” let me share some other “inside information” with you.
First, you will soon be able to see the debut of a new face on the KYB broadcast team. Jeff Martin’s first appearance should be shown on September 19, barring any unforeseen preemptions. In TV-talk, Jeff is the new “on-air personality” – only the sixth one in 35 years. With Jeff joining us, the panel returns to a three-person format, as well as gaining a little more youthful look. (Not that anyone looks “old” now…) Jeff has recorded quite a few shows already and I can assure you he is doing a great job. He is an outstanding addition to the KYB ministry. Paul told the Philippian church, “my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” God continues to bless Northside with awesome talent for every need!
I also want to tell you about a recent financial blessing. You may know that KYB has always kept donor information very anonymous. We’ve never listed individual donors or recognized big donations with big headlines. That’s mainly because our “big” donations are more than balanced by the many, many “widow’s mites” that make the ministry possible. We do list names of the honoree when we receive memorial gifts – usually at a person’s passing. We also receive some gifts given in honor of someone living. Recently, we received a very generous donation from some former members. This couple has been gone from Northside for decades, but chose to recognize two people who had a great influence on their life in Christ. Their check came with a simple note, “In honor of Brian Middleton and Archie Mauck.” I was thrilled by the dollars – the gift is much appreciated and will be a great help to the budget. But I was more impressed by the realization of how much influence each of us can have on another. Brian and Archie don’t seek any praise and probably couldn’t tell you even one thing they did to deserve any “honor.” That’s the point. When we “share our very lives” with others, we reap unseen results.
