Faith, Finance, and Freedom Conference

Faith, Finance, and Freedom Conference

Matthew 6:24 reminds us: “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus touched on nearly every aspect of New Testament living. Yet when He warned about something that can rival God for control of our hearts, He pointed directly to money. Two thousand years later, that warning feels even more relevant. Money has a unique power to divide friends and families, tempt us into sin, push us toward poor decisions, heighten stress, and distract us from what truly matters. When handled poorly, it weakens our faith and limits our ability to bless and encourage those around us.

I believe poor money management is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, challenges facing the Church today. It robs us of peace, stifles generosity, and quietly competes with God for first place in our lives.

That’s why the elders at Northside want to help. We don’t want anyone enslaved by overwhelming debt or constant financial pressure. To equip everyone, regardless of age or income, we’re kicking off 2026 with two practical, faith-centered events designed to help you remove money as a rival master and inspire others to do the same.

  1. Faith, Finance, and Freedom Conference, Saturday, January 31

We’ve invited Kent Hardman from Oklahoma Christian University to share insights from his Personal and Family Finance classes. He’ll bring real-world examples, both positive and cautionary, along with practical percentage guidelines to help you evaluate whether your spending is in balance. The day includes classes, a free lunch, and childcare. (Let us know about your childcare needs when you register.) Scan the QR code on the right to sign up.

  1. Financial Peace University (FPU), Starting February 11

Northside will host Dave Ramsey’s FPU class every Wednesday night for ten weeks. Class on the 11th will start at 7:00, but all subsequent classes will begin at 6:00 and end at 7:45. The cost is $50 per household and childcare will be provided. Sign up at the Activities Corner (and look for the blue light)!

These two events are not tied to one another, but they complement each other beautifully. Our hope is that the conference will inspire many to take the next step and join the FPU class. No matter what stage of life you’re in, working through a budget, canceling forgotten subscriptions, and building healthy habits is a great way to start the year.

Bring your teens and adult children to both of these events to give them a strong foundation early. Invite friends to join you for encouragement and practical tips on saving and finding great deals.

Don’t let money push God out of His rightful place. Take advantage of these opportunities and live a healthier life for Christ.
