Good News from Cuba
Exciting things are happening with World Christian Broadcasting’s Latin America/Spanish program! First, they recently added videos about the Gospel to their website and app. And as of last month, they have expanded their footprint in Cuba.
Their Latin America team is lead by Senior Producer, José Castillo. His team consists of two broadcasters, one editor, one technician, and several writers. Members of the team in Cuba, Nicaragua, and Guatemala work to produce programs for one-hour and half-hour radio broadcasts. With the government’s approval, they are being made available through a collection of digital material distributed weekly to people in Cuba using hard drives as a substitute for broadband internet.
A few weeks ago, a Cuban government representative signed a document officially authorizing World Christian to record and broadcast La Voz Alegre (The Happy Voice) in Cuba! They are allowing them to record the program in the state-sponsored radio station “Radio Ariguanabo.” And starting last month, they are broadcasting their half-hour program in that station FOR FREE! The government is also considering broadcasting La Voz Alegre in the provincial Radio Station, “Radio Artemisa” which would reach the six provinces in the western part of the island, including the capital city of Havana.
Isn’t it awesome how God is working in this radio ministry? What has happened in Cuba is nothing short of a miracle. In the 1950s, Cuba declared itself to be an atheist nation and persecuted religious people. In the 1990s, they amended their constitution and declared the country to be a secular entity. The fact that Cuba is now open to tolerating religion and is giving more freedom to talk about it publicly can only be attributed to the work of God.
Northside’s annual Missions Sunday is set for April 27. Please pray about how you can help spread the Good News in Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Kansas City, and around the world with World Christian Broadcasting in countries like Cuba.
