Know Your Bible 2.0

Know Your Bible 2.0

Know Your Bible will be going through some changes. The effectiveness of broadcast TV is declining and being replaced by social media. KYB has done a tremendous amount of good, and we want that to continue.

Three of the ways KYB has been unique in Christian broadcasting are:

  1. We never ask our viewers for money.
  2. We tell our viewers what the Bible says about their questions.
  3. We offer opportunities to continue their study, often leading to baptism.

We will continue with all three of these. But what will be different?

Instead of a half-hour “show,” each question and answer will be formatted to be used individually in social media. Lots of congregations put their teaching online, and God bless them for all the good they do. The New KYB will be different in these three ways:

First: We will involve as many in the congregation as possible in spreading the content we create. No need to get a seminary degree or move to Africa. Everyone with a smartphone and a lost friend can be a missionary. No need to become a hardened street preacher or engage in endless online debates. If you have an email address and a heart for the lost, you can be an evangelist. When the time comes, we will provide all the  training you need. We will continue with our correspondence courses and, thus, will still need our graders. There will be a place for everyone.

Second: We will strive to maximize the personal interaction between you and your lost friends. Starting and continuing an internet conversation with a friend is much more powerful than an anonymous speaker. People living in Wichita can be invited to Northside. We are  looking at different online options for those not in Wichita.

Third: The New KYB will be scalable, which means the cost and effort to add one more congregation is tiny. There are people outside  Wichita, outside Kansas, and even outside the US, who will use our material to reach their friends. Uber, Airbnb, Spotify, Netflix, and Amazon all quickly grew to be huge businesses because they were built to be scalable. The Internet provides opportunities that were not possible a decade ago. We are praying God will allow congregations all over the world to use the KYB pattern to let their members become online missionaries.

Broadcast KYB in Kansas will continue until mid-2025. By then, we will have the internet KYB in place and growing. To do this, we will need to hire a “Steve Tandy” for the new KYB. There will be an advertisement in the February Christian Chronicle and we will keep you updated on our progress. This is an exciting time to be at Northside! Please pray for KYB and all our outreach efforts.
