Latin American Bible Institute Update
Work has been busy for the leaders and students at the Instituto Latinoamericano de Estudios Bíblicos (ILEB). Founded in 1998, this Bible college has served congregations all over Latin America. Thanks to ILEB’s hard work and dedication, there are now over 180 congregations in Latin America with an ILEB graduate actively serving and there are
currently 50 students studying at ILEB who plan to return to their countries of origin to help serve the Lord’s church where they are most needed. While the school itself is in Mexico, its influence has reached to Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
I serve as Northside’s ILEB liaison, and when I asked for prayer requests, the director of ILEB, Roberto Zepeda, elaborated on some of their goals and ambitions. He asked that we pray on behalf of the teachers and students, that the teachers will continue to be zealous for educating the next generation of leaders in the church and the students will be disciplined and studious as they prepare to fill the roles God has prepared for them. He also asked that we pray for many new students to enroll in this next semester, and that they will be as passionate for the Word as the ones who came before them.
Roberto also wanted us to be informed and actively praying for an ambitious and exciting new project ILEB is working on called Siervos En Misiones (Servants in Missions). The goal of SEM is to help young adults engage in short-term mission work throughout Latin America by training them through select courses offered by ILEB. For many, this will serve as an introduction to a life of ministry. SEM will be similar to the two-year Adventures in Missions (AIM) program I was privileged to participate in.
ILEB has been faithfully serving God for many years, and there are many great works still to come. We will continue to support these good works, and we pray the Lord gives them success in all they do.
