Let Nothing Move You (Que Nada Te Mueva)

Let Nothing Move You (Que Nada Te Mueva)

Psalm 25:4-6 “Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by Your truth and teach me, for You are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in You. Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and unfailing love, which You have shown from long ages past.”

On Wednesday nights, starting February 19, we will begin a four-week class for women in the Fireside Room based on the book of Ruth. Lindsay Denton’s excellent class will then resume and finish out the quarter.

In October 2023, Doug and I experienced a life-changing event in our walk of faith when we were blessed to do a site visit for Northside in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We spent two weeks getting to know our brothers and sisters at the Redeemer Church of Christ, and we enjoyed working with Jonathan Hanegan as he ministers to that congregation. During our visit, we met Chema and Vanessa Izarra, and we welcomed them on Northside’s behalf to begin working with Jonathan full-time with that congregation. We fell in love with the beautiful souls that worship and praise God in that city and were tremendously blessed to witness the way they model first century Christianity through some very difficult life experiences.

About a week after we arrived home, I received an email from Vanessa inviting me to be the keynote speaker at their women’s conference in April 2024. What an honor!

It wasn’t in the Wagner’s budget to make that trip. But, in a beautiful act of giving, a few of our Northside brothers and sisters believed in this mission and made it financially possible for us to return to Buenos Aires – a gift we will never forget.

When Vanessa shared their conference theme with me, “Que Nada Te Mueva,” (Let Nothing Move You), the book of Ruth came to my heart. There is a direct connection between the story of Ruth for so many of the families in Buenos Aires, since many have had to leave their homelands to settle in a safer country. Like Ruth in scripture, they also have a deep faith in God to protect them and to provide for them—a lesson from which we all can learn.

I will be teaching those same conference lessons on Ruth for the next four Wednesday nights. We will look at the Bible text of the book, and at the legacy that Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz left for God’s people in the rest of the Bible, and for us today.

Ladies, I hope this study will bless your lives as it has blessed mine.
