New Bible Classes Starting Soon (Wednesdays 8/10 and Sundays 8/14)
On Sunday mornings, we’re going to study The Life of David. When you think of David, do you recall the giant-slayer or the fugitive who ran to the Philistines and pretended to be insane? Do you remember the military hero or the king who stayed in the palace rather than go to war? Do you think of the “man after God’s own heart” or the adulterer and murderer? These are the first four lessons in our upcoming study: (1) A Man After God’s Own Heart – What Does That Mean? (2) Courage Under Fire, (3) A Lesson in True Friendship, and (4) From Dreams to Despair.
On Wednesdays, Sean Clothier will teach in the Auditorium. If you perform a Google search on how many Christian denominations are there, the result will astound you. There are more than 200 denominations in the USA and approximately 45,000 throughout the world. In Matthew 16, Peter proclaims that Jesus is “the Christ.” Jesus responds by stating, “…upon this rock I will build my church.” This study, titled Upon This Rock I Will Build My Church, seeks to identify, through scripture, the church that Jesus established over 2,000 years ago.
Kimberly Babiash will be teaching a Wednesday evening ladies’ Bible class. She will be teaching about Types and Antitypes (also known as shadows and realities). This study will include Old Testament and New Testament scripture. These verses identify who Jesus is and they reveal the wisdom of God’s progressive revelation. We will study beautiful and challenging persons, events, and institutions that all reveal something of God’s glory. Until we see Christ face to face, let us know Him more thoroughly and more delightfully by recognizing the biblical types that bear the shadow of His substance. “For now, we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).
Just Us Guys will resume our weekly class on Wednesday evenings. Our goal will be the Bible challenge to become men of God. How do we do that? How can we encourage each other to be the best possible husbands and fathers? How can we be stronger in our battle with Satan? Various men will lead each class as we continue to develop future Bible class teachers at Northside.
