New Members

Dale & Karen Roehrman were born and raised in Wichita and have been married 61 years as of March 24. He graduated from North High School and she is a West High School alum. He attended WSU for two years and she studied at Harding University for two years. The Roehrmans have two grown children. Lisbeth Hinderliter is the  office manager at Textron Finance and has one son. Michael Roehrman is the executive editor of the Wichita Eagle. Dale & Karen were very involved at their previous congregation. He served as a deacon for many years, with responsibility for benevolence, the bus ministry, and missions. She taught 5th & 6th grade students and women’s classes. Dale has had a variety of jobs in his long career. First, he worked as a draftsman & supervisor for two structural steel companies for 22 years. Then for 10 years he worked for and was part-owner of LSCO Securities. For another 10 years he worked as a salesman for Bearden Stained Glass. Then after trying to retire in 2000, he worked for Liberty Tax for 20 more years preparing returns for individuals and businesses. He even had a 3-hour career as a catalog model when he dressed as Santa and his picture was on the cover of the Sheplers catalog. Karen worked for 17 years for Bearden designing and sandblasting windows. She also enjoyed teaching hobbyists how to make stained glass. She retired in 2000. Health concerns will keep the Roehrmans from  being able to worship with us in person, but they plan to participate regularly in our livestream worship each week.

Brian & Lisa Kupfersmith live in Valley Center on a small farm where they raise a few cattle. Brian grew up in Valley Center, and after high school began a career as an auto body mechanic in 1986. He is the owner of Brian’s Body Shop. Brian enjoys team roping, playing with their two dogs, and life on the farm. Lisa grew up in Baytown, TX, and attended Catholic schools for eight years. She moved to Wichita at the age of 16 and took a job at a local accounting firm. In 1987 she graduated from Kansas Newman College with a degree in accounting. She still works at the same accounting firm, LK Accounting, but now is the owner. Lisa enjoys working puzzles and water sports like riding jet skis and kayaking. The Kupfersmiths have two grown children. Curtis (33) lives in Oklahoma City and is a real estate agent. Missy (30) is a former Northside youth group member. She is now a dentist in Waco, TX, married to Jacob, and they have a 10-month-old daughter named Lily.

Kay Gales was baptized and placed membership at Northside on March 5. She had been visiting our congregation for about a year as a guest of Ruth Lowrey. Kay was born and raised in Stillwater, OK, and at the age of 25, moved to Wichita. She graduated from Friends University with a degree in business administration and worked for the City of Wichita for 32 years. When she retired in 2012, she was  the Director of the Municipal Court. Kay and her husband, Gary, will celebrate their 50th anniversary this November. They have five grown children, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Kay is an avid quilter, and that’s how she met Ruth, who is also an   excellent quilter.
