Don & Debbie Kirkland are originally from Alabama. He grew up in Birmingham and she was raised in Guntersville. Don worked at the Birmingham Water Works for 36 years and retired from there as the chief engineer in 2004. He has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. In 2005, he moved to Wichita and worked seven years for the Wichita Water Utility, retiring in 2011 as the assistant director. Don has two grown daughters and one granddaughter. He likes working with cars, and when he was younger he used to drag race. Debbie has a BSE in special education from Jacksonville State University and later earned a master’s degree in special education. She taught special education classes for 27 years in Alabama. Debbie met Don at a singles’ group function in Birmingham, and they were married in 2005. Her passion is serving others through her card ministry and driving seniors to the doctor. She also enjoys gardening and YMCA water aerobic classes. The Kirklands spend half of each year in Alabama. While there, they are active members at the Heritage church of Christ in Irondale, but they also have already proven to be active members at Northside.
Will & Grace Duncan met at Family Camp in 2016 and were married on March 11. They were both born and raised in Wichita. Will graduated from Andover Central High School in 2016 and Grace from Heights in 2018. Will earned a degree in political science from WSU in 2021 and Grace is working on a degree in graphic design at WSU. He worked at Eddy’s Toyota for three years and for the past year has worked in the service department at Wichita Tractor Company. Will enjoys riding his motorcycle and watching movies. Grace worked two years doing interior design and just started a job as a manufacturing designer for Open Road Brands. She enjoys drawing as a hobby. They are active in Northside’s College-Age group. Will’s parents, Andy & Lena Duncan, and Grace’s folks, Luke & Jennifer Campbell, are also Northside members, as are a whole bunch of siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Linda Davis was born and raised in Milan, KS, and graduated from Argonia High School. She studied at Friends University for three semesters and then left school in 1970 to get married to her high school sweetheart, Richard. The couple moved to Kansas City so Richard could attend dental school, and during those four years, Linda worked at Hallmark Cards. Their first son, Darrin, was born there in 1974. After graduating, Richard bought a dental practice in Kingman. Linda worked there in the office, and after 42 years they both retired in 2016. The Davises’ second son, Gavin, was born in 1977. After they retired, Richard and Linda moved to Wichita in 2018, and he died of pancreatic cancer in July 2020. Linda has three grandchildren, a boy and two girls. Her son, Gavin, lives in Phoenix, and Darrin lives in Andale, so she spends about half of each year here and half there. Tom Deffenbaugh is Linda’s first cousin, so she is related to several Northside members. She’s also good friends with Wayne & Leah Goering and has known Joy Kingsley since they were young.
