New Wednesday Night Schedule

New Wednesday Night Schedule

Your Northside shepherds have a strong desire to focus our attention on Bible study and fellowship when we meet together each Wednesday night. To that end, we have decided to make some changes to our Wednesday evening schedule, and we announced those changes at the beginning of class on January 8. In case you missed it, and to learn more about the new schedule and our reasons for the changes, keep reading.

Bible Study

In our classes for new members, when we ask what they like most about Northside, almost all of them mention the importance we place on preaching the Word and studying it faithfully in our Bible classes. That is a core value held by all your shepherds, and we encourage you to take advantage of our Bible classes for all ages, from babies to adults, on both Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.

As you know, on Wednesday nights, our classes begin at 7 PM. One part of our schedule change is that the first bell to signal that class time is almost over will now ring at 7:40 and the final bell will sound at 7:45. After the second bell, we will dismiss our auditorium class and we will no longer hold the 15-minute devotional.

Fellowship

Many of you take part in the monthly Family Fellowship Meals we offer, normally on the first Wednesday of each month. Those gatherings provide a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with your Northside friends and make new connections. Several of you also get together on other Wednesday evenings before class for our Fast Food Fellowships, where you pick up some Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, McDonalds, or other “speedy nourishment” and eat it in the Multipurpose Room with your Northside buddies.

We think one measure of a healthy church is to notice how much its members enjoy hanging out with each other before and after services. As I mentioned earlier, the elders want to encourage that healthy-church habit, so at 7:45 when most classes end, we encourage you to stick around and visit in the foyer or, when the weather is warmer, outside as you watch your kiddos play with their friends at the playground.

Young Children

There is one thing we want to highlight for parents of young children. In some cases, an adult Bible class may go past 7:45 with group discussion. Parents, please be aware that classes for children from babies through 4th grade will dismiss at 7:45, so parents need to retrieve their children at that time. Of course, we still plan to have Safari dramas at 7:50 on some Wednesdays.
