Northside Watchers – We Need YOU!
Who are the Northside Watchers? We are a group of men and women who volunteer to walk the hallways and parking lots during class and services. The Watchers ministry started when there was a rash of car break-ins that occurred during Sunday morning services. As soon as we started, the problems stopped.
Now some of you may be remembering that just a few months ago we had an issue again. Yes, a Watcher was on duty that day; but unfortunately, as it has been for some time now, only one was on duty.
One of my goals is to have enough volunteers that we don’t have to overuse any of them. (I don’t want anyone to have to miss class or worship very often!) To accomplish that goal, we need more help. In a perfect world, I would like to have two people on duty on Sunday mornings and at least one on Sunday and Wednesday nights.
A Watcher is not a highly-trained individual, expected to confront a suspicious person in the parking lot or building. A Watcher is a set of eyes, someone who can contact me on the radio and let me know if anything out of the ordinary is going on. The Watchers ministry needs men and women willing to miss the occasional class or service so their brothers and sisters can focus on worship and not worry about their safety.
