What do hiking, campfire devos, swimming, tie dying, painting, s’mores, Red-Rover on a trampoline, fellowshipping, laughter, a spa night, learning about God’s amazing grace, and games galore have in common? They all took place June 3-5 at our second annual “Girls’ Retreat”.
This year, 38 Northside teen girls and sponsors escaped to Camp Horizon in Arkansas City for a weekend of food, fun, and friendship.
Three of our graduate senior ladies planned and organized the weekend. Cassidy Campbell, Gracie Nelsen, and Isabelle Woodard inspired us through their devotional talks on grace, reminding us that we are stronger and more dependent on God through our weaknesses (referencing 2 Corinthians 12). These ladies also facilitated the three breakout sessions.
This event was created as an opportunity for our senior girls to step out of their comfort zones and grow in their leadership skills by being the speakers as well as the organizers for the weekend. It is also a special time for all the girls to bond on a deeper level away from the distractions of everyday life.
So, if you have a teen girl, or you are a teen girl, mark your calendar for next year and come along as we escape back into the wilderness once again for food, fun, and friendship under the stars. A-glamping we will go!
