Teen Camp 2023 “Made for More”
Ever wonder what happens during Northside Teen Camp? Of course our teens and sponsors have tons of fun, but that isn’t the main goal of the week. Each day our teens are guided by God’s Word and by biblical teaching on timely and challenging topics. They spend time listening, meditating, and discussing the topic over the course of the entire day. Below is an overview of each of the topics covered this year. I would love to hear some opinions on other topics our teens might need to hear!
Day 1: “Made in the Image of God” Speaker: Jeff Martin
Synopsis: We are made in the image of God. We are purposefully and obviously made separate from all other creation, and we are undoubtedly blessed by the way we are designed. All things that are designed have purpose, so what is ours? Genesis 1:27
Day 2: “Made Alive in Christ, to do Good Works” Speaker: Justin Harrold
Synopsis: We have been given the gift of eternal salvation, and we did nothing to deserve it. Considering this gift, we should seek to do the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do. What does serving this purpose look like? What are the right and wrong ways to look at good works? Ephesians 2:1-10
Day 3: “Made to be Part of a Family” Speaker: Kreg Greenwood
Synopsis: We were created to be a working part of a church body, and a part of a church family. Church is not something that God sees as optional. Church is part of our purpose, and God’s design. How sure are you that you will be part of the church body when you are out on your own? How do we grow in maturity and understanding so we will be ready to be a working part of the church? 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 / Acts 2:42-47
Day 4: “Made Male and Female” Speakers: Luke and Jennifer Campbell
Synopsis: God’s plan is perfect. God made us male and female, and our differences are his creation, so they are good. How do we navigate gender biblically? In what ways has culture hijacked what it means to be a man or a woman? How are our purposes different? How are they the same? How do we approach those struggling with gender identity and sexuality without promoting sin? Genesis 1 / Titus 2 / Proverbs 31 / 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 / 1 Corinthians 13:11 / Psalm 119:9-16 / Proverbs 27:17
Day 5: “Made to proclaim Christ” Speaker: Gary Brown
Synopsis: We are made to proclaim the excellencies of Christ. When we are not doing what we are made to do our lives don’t feel right, and bad things happen. The bible is clear on sharing Christ. Why do we need this lesson so often? What are the reasons that so many Christians avoid sharing the good news? How do we overcome ourselves for the sake of sharing the message of eternal salvation? Matthew 28:16-20 / 1 Peter 3:15 / 2 Corinthians 5:20 / Mark 16:15
