My Plans or God’s? By Becca Greenwood

Becca 150 x 150Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Unlike Cody, my personal plans did not include coming back to Northside as an intern. I was surprised when Toby came to me over Christmas break to ask if I would be interested in interviewing for the internship this summer. One thing I have observed the past couple of years is that God’s call to me is always so obvious; yet, I am just too focused on myself to notice it. He might as well put a flashing neon sign in my path that says, “Becca, this is God, and this is what I want you to do”. I am proud to say that this time I saw the door God had specifically opened up for me and am thankful I allowed myself to step out of my comfort zone and take the offer. In the few weeks I have been at work I can see that God’s purpose for me this summer is better than anything I could have imagined or planned for myself. Not only will the girls in the youth group learn something from me and my experiences, but I know I will also learn a lot from them. Thank you to God and my wonderful church family for this opportunity I have been given this summer.

With this, I would like to challenge you this week to throw your selfishness out the door and open up your life to God. When you are able to replace that selfishness with selflessness, you will find that God’s  purpose is the only purpose that matters. Satisfaction, happiness, and growth are just around the corner of the path that God puts in front of you. Your plans may be many, but His purpose will prevail.
