THE BIBLE IS THE ONLY STANDARD
All Christians should agree that the Bible is the ONLY standard for life and forever. Since it is, then obviously, the way to see if something is true is to see if it lines up with the word of God. Such is the responsibility of each Christian, not just their leaders and teachers.
(I Thessalonians 5:20-21) “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; holding on to what is good, rejecting every kind of evil.” In the 21st century, the growing number of standards is impossible to keep up with. Much of the confusion in the world today comes from this one thing: Society has abandoned the one standard of truth, which is the Bible, the word of God. Since the word of God is the final authority in all things, the world’s standards are doomed to fail.
(Proverbs 14:12) “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”
(Matthew 7:24-27) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rains came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” All things build according to worldly standards will fall when storms come … and they will come!
A disciple of Jesus is one who continues to learn and obey the truth (John 8:31, 32). Disciple is the root word for discipline. It is I important for individuals to be disciplined to study the Word and secure the truth in their own hearts, thus living by those standards (eternal truths). The truths of the world change according to political and personal desires. Don’t be such a changer! Be an upholder of the truth … the only standard … God’s standard!
