What heaven might be like

What heaven might be like

Have you ever wondered what Heaven is like?

I have.  The farther along I go in my walk with Jesus, the more it piques my curiosity.

There are a few things we know:

  1. It’s a prepared place. If God can create such beauty in this temporary world, can you imagine what He will do in an eternal one?  “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2
  2. It’s a better place. Heaven is not of this world.  There will be no more sin, and as such, no more sorrow or suffering.  That world will be much better than this one.  “But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one….” Hebrews 11.16
  3. It’s a joyful place. It’s hard to grasp just how happy we will be in heaven.  “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

While we know some things about heaven, there are many things we don’t know.  Lots of folks have speculated on the subject, but none of us really knows—only that it’ll be good!

But, I do have one theory …I think Heaven has a slip & slide.

This thought came to me while at the Nash Splash at family camp.  (For those of you not familiar, you’ll have to come to family camp to really understand it.  For those of you who’ve been, IYKYK).

Why do I think this?   A couple reasons:

  1. There’s a lot of joy at a slip & slide. Check out the Facebook pictures of people on the Nash Splash.  I can’t find a single sad person in them—lots of kids, lots of adults, and all of them smiling!  It may be the only place where it’s physically impossible to have a frowny face.
  2. There’s a ton of teamwork on a slip & slide. You can’t enjoy a slip & slide by yourself.  I’m not sure it even works with just one person.  You need someone to hold the hose, a few people to launch you, and it’s lots more fun to slide down with your spouse, your family, or 27 other people simultaneously.

While I have no scripture to make my case, I do know there will be no sadness, lots of kids, a whole lot of joy, and many, many people together in heaven. So, along those lines, it makes perfect sense to me that God would have some angels setup a slip & slide.

Whether or not it’s actually there, I do not know.

But, I do know Satan is trying diligently to keep us from getting there.

So, please, stay faithful to Jesus, and don’t give up.

Far better things are ahead….maybe even a slip & slide!
