What Matters or Concerns Have Your Heart?

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:3-4)

God created us in His image and provided a beautiful garden for Adam and Eve to enjoy each other. This garden was filled with trees pleasing to the eye and good for food. The two trees placed in the center of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

I recently contemplated the idea that Adam and Eve must have passed quite a few other beautiful places within this garden in the east, in Eden. Walking past all that was plentiful and vast to seek after what was less or the least in the garden. This same thought brought me to thinking how often I also tend to stroll past the multiple things in life God has planned for me to focus on majoring in the minor things of this world and life. How often do we spend way to much time dwelling on matters that are beyond our ability to control or even comprehend and bypass understanding what it means to delight ourselves in the things God has already provided us rather than attempting to scrutinize, analyze, or size up how and why others are not behaving, thinking, or agreeing with things we consider to be major matters within the world or a body of fellow believers?

God has provided us simple instructions on how to optimize and capitalize on the many ways to dwell and delve into loving and considering each other in ways that honor and delight Him as we learn what it means to guard our hearts and align them with things that matter most to Him. As we move forward into the holidays, ensure your heart desires are in sync with trusting the Lord, doing what’s good, and being available light to a world in desperate need of the light which is Jesus Christ!

In closing, let us remember that the desires of our hearts, when aligned with God’s will, can lead us to a life of true abundance and joy.
