World Christian Broadcasting Celebrates 50 Years!

World Christian Broadcasting Celebrates 50 Years!

Fifty years ago, the founders of World Christian Broadcasting incorporated the ministry and started working toward building its first shortwave radio station. Seven years later, they began broadcasting at KNLS in Alaska. Ten years ago a new station in Madagascar went on the air. From these two locations, World Christian now blankets the  entire globe with programs in the eight most-spoken languages.

Why has Northside supported World Christian for decades?

  • The Bible is illegal in 13 countries, highly restricted in another 15 countries, and  difficult or dangerous to obtain in another 24 countries. Short-wave radio provides protection and access to the gospel because it can’t be traced or blocked!
  • World Christian receives over six million hits to its websites every year, but still one third of the world’s population does not have access to the Internet.
  • Three billion shortwave radios exist in the world. At any point of the day, one billion are turned on with an average audience of three people per radio.
  • World Christian’s signals bounce off the ionosphere and travel all the way around the earth. This form of communication has  enabled WCB to share Jesus with an astonishing number of people in even remote areas of the world!

April is Missions Month at Northside and we’ll be sharing brief updates from our missionaries at the end of each worship service. Your continued support of our mission work is vital to the success of efforts like World Christian Broadcasting.
