Other Ways to Serve

[pjc_slideshow slide_type=”other-ways-to-serve”]

The apostle Paul said that God provided leaders in the church to “prepare God’s people for works of service.” (Eph. 4:12)  Northside’s leaders use these ministries to help prepare God’s people to serve.

Financial Training

God expects us to be good stewards of the money and possessions He gives us. In-depth, small group financial training is available using materials for Crown financial Ministries and Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.

Library

The Northside church library has thousands of books, magazines, and videos for checkout.

Media Ministry

Prayer

At Northside, we believe “the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)  When someone has a physical or spiritual need, hundreds of Northsiders petition God after learning of prayer requests through the Northside Prayer Tree. In addition, at the beginning of each school year willing adult volunteers are paired up with students to become “Prayer Pals.” This is an effective way to teach children the power of prayer and to provide another adult to be a friend. If you have a prayer request, contact the church office.

Worship

While we try to worship God with our lives “24/7” our Sunday assembly time is very special. When the family comes together, we worship through uplifting songs, prayers, reading the Bible, partaking together of the Lord’s Supper, giving sacrificially, and hearing challenging lessons from God’s word. Worship services are held at 10 on Sunday mornings and 6 Sunday evenings.

Music

“Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.” (James 5:13) Some occasions call for singing. Northside has a special group called the Northside Singers that performs at weddings, funerals, and other special occasions with beautiful a cappella singing.

Trunk or Treat

Every year on a Saturday before Halloween more than 1,000 parents and children come to Northside’s parking lot and enjoy walking among decorated cars to get candy, getting their faces painted, jumping in the bounce house, and munching on free hot dogs. This outreach activity is a great way to offer the Wichita community a safe and fun Halloween adventure.

Holiday Baskets

A few weeks before Christmas each year, Northside members decorate boxes and fill them with donated goodies and homemade treats. Then they deliver the boxes to senior and homebound members to provide a little Christmas cheer.
